Set in Hungary in the late 18th Century, the Gyspy Baron is the story of a romance between a landowner and a gypsy girl. As is usual with operattas, the story is not straightforward and, accompanied by lively music, involves a Romany Queen, a band of gypsies, a troop of Hussars, a Military Governor, a self-important mayor and a rascally commissioner.
